Parr to partake in MDA Telethon.

Radio personalities around the country will be part of their local market fundraising efforts for the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon this weekend. “Go Country 105” KKGO, Los Angeles morning host Shawn Parr will be part of the show, helping Lewis host hours 10 and 11. It’s his second year being part of the show.


“WADV” returns for Advertising Week.

Clear Channel will once again this year launch the online news-talk station “WADV” featuring highlights from the ad industry’s annual gathering later this month. The revamped format with roving on-site reporters will provide the latest news and information, including interviews with industry decision makers.

While the debate rages over whether a cell phone can accommodate an FM receiver, Apple engineers have figured out a way to keep it inside the new, smaller iPod nano and maintain battery life for 24 hours. The approximately one and-a-half inch square device — nearly half the size and weight of the previous iPod nano — will remain radio’s sole entry into Apple’s product line.

One of radio’s arguments in favor of requiring the inclusion of FM tuners on cell phones is that, when given the choice, consumers prefer them. A new survey from Nielsen supports that position.


Radio seeks Advertising Week spotlight.
